Many of you ask me to post up dessert recipes. Unfortunately, chocolate can’t be spiralized. Oh, how I wish it could be…. imagine a world where the spiralizer could magically create chocolate noodles?
Also, that would be probably be a not-so-good thing, because this blog would become InChocolized, as I have a pretty big chocolate problem.
Today, I take a stab at a time-tested favorite dessert (the apple crisp), using KIND‘s Peanut Butter granola as the crispy crust and spiralized apples.
I’m a big fan of peanut butter (or almond butter!) and apples. It’s a heart-healthy, high protein snack that satisfies your sweet tooth. Naturally, I figured an apple crisp with peanut butter flavor would be divine. Enter KIND’s Peanut Butter Granola. Oh, wow.
This crisp is nothing short of perfect. The apples roast and become luxuriously soft while their sugars release and create the beloved sweetness and crunchiness of an apple crisp.
Obviously, the KIND granola MAKES this dish. Whatever genius over at KIND decided to make a peanut butter granola should be promoted! I love the healthy crunch that KIND granola always offers (I’ve always been a fan!) In this granola, from their website:
Peanut Butter Whole Grain Clusters are a protein packed blend of peanuts and whole grains amaranth, quinoa, oats, millet and buckwheat. These delicious clusters provide 5g of protein per serving and are a tasty way to get 16g of whole grains.
The best part? Creating the layer of apples takes seconds, if you have a spiralizer! Simply load the apple on the spiralizer (using Blade C) and slices of apples are made in seconds. Place the apple slices in a bowl, toss with cinnamon, place in a cast-iron skillet, top with granola and drizzle with maple syrup, roast for 15-20 minutes and voila: an apple crisp that you don’t have to slave over in the kitchen.
To be honest, I almost didn’t have enough of this granola to make the crisp, because Lu was sneaking handfuls for weeks!
What’s your favorite dessert that you’d like to see somehow Inspiralized?
Note: While KIND provided these products complimentarily to review for this post, all opinions are my own.
