Every Friday, we’ll be posting short and quick business stories, tips and resources that have helped us grow Inspiralized. The series will be called #InspiralizedBoss and we hope they inspire others!

FROM THE DESK OF ALI MAFFUCCI, FOUNDER, INSPIRALIZED:

We made it! It’s 2016 and my favorite time of the year: the beginning. It’s an opportunity to get off on the right foot, set intentions and of course, make goals and resolutions.

Personally, I made a few resolutions this year (which I like to call intentions, because it takes off the pressure of the word “goal.”) Since I’m also an entrepreneur, I set business goals and resolutions for myself and thus, Inspiralized.

What’s the difference between a resolution and a goal? I like to separate them.

To me, a resolution is something you resolve to do consistently and a goal is something you aim to achieve – a solid, concrete accomplishment. A goal has a specific end, but a resolution is an ongoing determination to improve your everyday business (or if it’s a personal one, your everyday lifestyle.)

Let me give you an example.

[bctt tweet=”A goal has a specific end, but a resolution is an ongoing determination to improve your everyday business.”]

Goal #1: Launch a weekly recipe video series. This has been on my mind for a while and I keep saying, “I want to make more cooking videos!” but I always put it off, prioritizing something else. In the words of Marie Forleo, I’m going to schedule my priorities instead of prioritizing my schedule – and get this done this year! I’m hoping to launch this March 1, so stay tuned (and make sure you’re following me on YouTube!)

Resolution #1: I resolve to only check my e-mail once an hour. It’s great to have a clear Inbox, but then at the end of the day, what projects have you tackled? Probably very few, because you spent all day responding to and organizing e-mails. I’m totally guilty of this *insert female raising hand emoji* – and in 2016, I resolve to only delve into my Gmail once an hour! Of course, it’s okay to monitor it for urgent, pending e-mails, but otherwise, don’t respond to the “easy” ones – those can wait.

Along with these goals and resolutions, it’s important to set benchmarks for yourself. This way, you can keep focused and on top of it. After all, if you don’t check in on yourself, what’s the point of making these resolutions and goals in the first place?

What kind of resolutions and goals are you setting for this 2016 and how do you plan to keep on top of them? If you haven’t made any, it’s never too late!

Thank you for tuning in, and I hope you learned something new from this week’s #InspiralizedBoss post.

  • Great wisdom, Ali. I especially like Marie Forleo's for scheduling priorities. We will look forward to March, for your cooking demos! Thanks as always for your energy and inspiralization! Kathie
    • We really appreciate your support, Kathie!
  • In the last 2 weeks I have purchased an sprializer attachment for my Kitchen aid mixer and a food dehydrator. I am a lucky person. I love your recipes and have already made 4 of them. Because my daughter told me about spiralizing veggies I have her on your newsletter list as well. I was wondering if you thought that maybe some of the sprializer vegetables could be dehydrated when produce is abundant. Do you have any thoughts on this?
