What I Ate Today + My Favorite Workout Gear Lately

I’m writing this post before I go on HSN, but once this post goes live, I’ll be done with my live debut on HSN! I’m sending myself positive, successful vibes now!

It’s tough eating out for nearly every single meal while you’re traveling, but I did it, took pictures, and now I’m sharing it with you all so you can see what I eat while I travel – and I’m also sharing some of my favorite workout gear as of late.

What I Ate Today, January 23, 2017

Breakfast
    • Acai bowl from Karma Juice Bar with gluten-free granola, blueberries, bananas, chia seeds, and a drizzle of almond butter
    • Coffee

Lunch

We went to Locale Market, and after circling the place for 15 minutes, I landed on this meal: quinoa, curried cauliflower, steamed broccoli, and avocado.

Snack

We went to a coffee shop to do more work (like write this blog post) and I had some chamomile caffeine-free tea with a handful of almonds from a bag of raw almonds I brought with me! I ate way more almonds than pictured below, but that’s what it looked like when I took the picture :)

Pre-dinner

I brought a bunch of Noka Organics packs and this was my last one! I like the Sweet Potato flavor better (it’s less sweet and has a bit thicker consistency), but this one got it done!

Dinner

We ate at the hotel! I had a butternut squash soup to start (vegan) and a turkey burger with avocado on a whole wheat bun and a side of fruit!

My Favorite Workout Gear Lately

I workout a lot (have you seen my @getinspiralized Instagram account?) If you’ve read any of my fit journey stories, you know that I love working out not only to keep toned and fit, but to feel good from the inside out. It gives me energy, makes me feel strong, and brings me mental sanity, especially before or after a busy, crazy day.

I’m always on the lookout for great workout gear – and since many of you always ask me where I get some of my stuff, I figured I’d roundup some of my favorites lately. This isn’t a sponsored post, by the way – it’s just literally the stuff I’m loving and want to share with all of you!

1 – My favorite running shoes, the Nike Air Zoom Vomero 11. If you followed along with me during my half-marathon training, you know I ended up with a bad top-of-the-foot injury. I couldn’t run for about a week, and during that time, I got new running shoes. I was hesitant about Nike, because they’re not exactly “the runner’s sneaker,” but they got my through some serious mileage comfortable, including the half marathon. I wear them to the gym everyday, I love them!

2 – The studio tank that’s fitted, but doesn’t show everything, the Mesh Inversion Tank from Athleta. I recently purchased this, and it has such a cute strappy back, so it conceals my sports bra straps, and it contours to your back and is super flattering around the midsection – it’s got that elasticity that softens while it flexes.

3 – The headband that’ll stay on your head, the Fly Away Tamer Headband II from Lululemon. Pretty self explanatory – it does the trick, whether I’m running, spinning or doing yoga.

4 – The tank that doesn’t roll-up and is nice and long, the Finish Fast Tank from Athleta. I recently bought this in four different colors, because it’s amazing – it has a rubber stick on the bottom so it won’t roll up (perfect for yoga or even running) and is super long, so if you have a long torso, this tank is a Godsend. It’s super tight, so if you’re looking to flaunt, it definitely flaunts it all!

5 – The perfect mid-rise capris with some flair, the Spacedye Criss Cross Chaturanga Capri from Athleta. I know, more Athleta, but their stuff is on point this season! These hit perfectly on the waist and I love the criss-cross detail at the bottom. They’re breathable and have just enough stretch to flatter your bum, while not being super shiny – I love the material and the deep gray color.

6 – THE BEST SPORTS BRA FOR MY BUSTY GIRLS, the Panache Underwire Sports Bra. Full disclosure: I’m a 34DDD. My boobs are big, and I do a LOT of jumping around, whether in HIIT moves or running. This sports bra straps them in, while shaping them so you don’t get that uni-boob, smooshy look (I HATE that!) It’s comfortable, and the back hooks so that you can wear all the cute workout tanks that are racerback. I swear by this bra – I wish I could buy stock in Panache, because they really nailed it here. It comes in some relatively cute colors – but it’s 1000% functional, and my ta-tas don’t budge in this bra.

7 – The shoe you wear to and from the gym or when doing anything, the Charged Pivot Midi by Under Armour. You may have seen me wear these like every single day on @alissandrab and that’s because they are the world’s most comfortable shoes – whether you’re wearing them to and from the gym or running errands and looking sporty and chic – they’re gorgeous and definitely worth the price tag. Never have I received so many compliments when out than I have with these sneaks!

8 – The longer capri for chillier days or to look cute during yoga while tucking in the pooch, the High-Rise Chaturanga Tropical Mesh 7/8 Tights. I seriously can’t get enough of Athleta – and their high-rise is perfectly high rise. It tucks everything in, firms you up, and these 7/8 tights hit slightly above the ankle, so they look chic enough so you feel cool running errands in them after a workout class. I’m obsessed with this tropical print, but I also bought them in gray, here.

9 – The sports bra for just enough support when you’re busty for yoga and errands, the Movement Bralette by Athleta. When I go to yoga, I don’t want my Panache bra on – I just don’t need that much support, and the underwire isn’t comfortable when I’m twisting like a pretzel. I need something less restrictive, and this is the only sports bra I’ve found that doesn’t completely smoosh me into a uniboob, looks cute with trendy workout tops, and supports me and protects my cleavage. It’s also great when you run errands or come home from a tough day and just need to let those puppies out but want a little support.

10 – The best bluetooth earbuds out there, the Powerbeats3 Wireless In-Ear Headphones by Beats. These never fail – they always stay in my ear, the music quality is amazing, they come in stylish colors, and they’re bluetooth. The best.

What workout gear are you loving lately?

  1. You were wonderful! Watched the 10am show :) Too bad I already have one, and both your books....I would have bought everything !! I do wish I had a green one to match my kitchen though :)
  2. Love this post! Can you tell us where you get those tie dye capris you wear often in your posts? Congrats on HSN! You deserve it!
  3. Love your motivation and your cookbooks! Check out GapFit they have new high rise and great print options, I love them!!!
  4. I bought a green spiralizer yesterday! Can't wait to get it. Love the athletic stuff recommendations, but I guess you need to be a celebrity to afford that stuff. Maybe if I can get a gig on HSN, then I can buy some $200 headphones!! ; )
  5. OMG! Ali! You were GREAT on HSN!! So proud of you! I had recorded the 10am segment and watched it last night. I immediately called to order the two-cookbooks (signed!) deal, and it was already sold out. I was SO disappointed. I've had my Inspiralizer for a long time, but never got either of the books, relying instead on your website and daily recipe emails. Here's hoping you're invited back to HSN again, then I'll be sure to check online while you're on-air live in hopes of another 2-books deal. Congrats on your TV debut!
  6. I enjoyed this post a lot! Thanks for giving us the rundown on where you get your workout stuff!
  7. I had a super busy day and even though I put you on my google calendar, I still missed ALL the HSN gigs! Do you have a YouTube link to the segments??
  8. Please make your books available for purchase in iBooks/iTunes. I would love to has them on my iPad. Thanks
  9. Thank You, Nice write up on what you eat on the road. Sometimes it is difficult, but we always manage to find something.. Have a great day...
    • Thank you for your message! It's easy to go for what's the quickest to grab, but so worth it to put in a little extra effort to do what's best for your body and your mind!
  10. Love this post -- found at least two useful pieces of information immediately, thanks! Ordered myself some Noka superfood in the sweet potato flavor -- sounds perfect for those times when I need energy but can't make a good snack, and passed along the tips on sports bras to my daughter who is also curvy. Congratulations on your HSN appearances -- you rocked it, and on the Sur La Table contract!!
  11. Since I don't watch day time TV I tuned in at ten o"clock and you were not there. ouch. So I called the 800 number and they said you would be on within the hour. Whew. So enjoyed watching it and the new improved model. Saw the segment last week with your dear husband. Mr. Good Guy I must say. I love the new improved model with the all in one blade combo. I applaud your spirit and belief in your product and lifestyle.
  12. Ha ha ha, I'm catching up on your recent posts and now I see you did one on your favorite travel snacks and talked all about Noka superfoods. Oh well! Lots more good information - thanks!!
  13. Hi Ali - My new favorite workout gear is a FlipBelt. I wear it when I run, and it holds my phone, keys, etc. Check it out and let me know what you think. :)
