This recipe was quick and delicious! I halved the recipe, since I don't need 6-9 servings to myself. Instead of whole stewed tomatoes, I used a can of Hunt's fire-roasted diced tomatoes. As they were simmering in the pot, I used a potato-masher to pulverize them instead of getting my food processor dirty.

I added some Simek's turkey meatballs to the casserole pan for baking. Perfection!

Thanks for this comment! I had the same problem, but then I sat there and separated out the spirals by hand. I didn't think of changing to a different setting. Is it because the rutabaga is so hard, or what?

I made a variation of this recipe and it was delicious! I added a spiralized onion into the sauce, and liked that addition. I think next time I may add some tomato paste to thicken up the sauce a bit.

Made this last night for dinner and it is truly incredible! My husband adored it and did not miss the meat at all. My favorite part is the delicate crunch in the noodles! This will definitely be on repeat in the household. Thank you Ali for this gem!
Also ditched my paderno this morning for a Inspiralizer I ordered on Amazon and I am so excited to get it.

Any ideas how this could be adapted for a slow cooker? I love coming home and find out someone has been thoughtful enough to make us dinner!
I tried this recipe yesterday. I did the sauce a bit differently, using canned chopped tomatoes and tomato paste just because of what was in the pantry, but essentially followed your recipe. The family loved it and it is definitely a keeper ( I never imagined we would ever eat rutabaga!). Also, it fits into our lower carb vegetarian diet and re-heats beautifully. Thank you so much!

I'm making this today, so guess I should have asked this earlier in order to get a response! Any opinions from anyone?

Hi Ali! Any reccomendations for spiralizing a rutabaga ? I tried with blade D and it came out all stuck together like chips. I moved up to a larger blade and that worked perfectly. Any tips for the future !?

I saw this recipe yesterday. Stopped off at the store on my way home to pick up needed items (who has rutabaga in their pantry?) and made this for dinner last night. Totally awesome! I would give it 5+ stars on a 1-5 rating system. I am not particularly fond of rutabaga, but this was the perfect vegetable for this dish! And, Ali is correct in saying it is just like pasta with a bit of a nutty flavor. I always love to "tweak" a recipe, but only after I have tried it as written. Next time, I might tweak it with some Andouille sausage and maybe some capers, but, the recipe, as given is absolutely yummy!

When it says to add half the mozzarella, do I need more than the 9 slices that are going on top of the dish? Thanks -- love your recipes!

Regular potato, sweet potato, butternut squash (it may break up a bit though), kohlrabi, and parsnip if you can find enough large parsnips !
