Let’s make waffles!

Today, we have a step-by-step tutorial video on how to make spiralized waffles.

Spiralized waffles are perfect for holiday gatherings – they’re a healthier alternative to typical waffles and are always a surprising hit!

So what can you pack into the waffle iron? My best picks for spiralized waffles are:

  • Sweet potatoes
  • Rutabaga
  • Turnips
  • Beets
  • Zucchini
  • Carrots
  • Parsnips
  • Other types of potatoes

Spiralized waffles can be savory or sweet, depending on the vegetable you use! Get creative and use your favorite toppings, depending on the type of waffle meal you’re making.

If you’re making savory waffles, try topping with a fried egg and some avocado. If you’re making sweet waffles, top with maple syrup and berries!

Enough talk, check it out:

  • I love making spiralized potato waffles! I make those and dill goat cheese and eggs (from one of your other recipes) and it has to be my absolute favourite breakfast!
  • This looks great! What do you think about using butternut squash, and an egg white? Thanks again for all you do!
  • Can I please have a link for the Krups appliances that you used in this video. Thanks.
    • The link is in the description of the video, on YouTube!
      • I just watched the video on Youtube and I cannot find the link. Could you please give it to me. In the past I have never been able to find the links in any of your videos that you say are included in them. Maybe it is just my lack of something....who knows. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share the link with me. Thanks
      • Steven - so that you can catch it in the future, simply click "Show More" under the video and you will see the whole description of the video, with the link for the waffle iron. Here's the link, but I hope in the future that you can find it yourself to save you the time and energy (I don't always get to respond to all the comments on this blog.) Link: http://amzn.to/1T4pW7J
  • I tried the "Lemon Garlic Broccoli with Bacon" recipe from your cookbook last night and was a bit confused---it didn't say when (or if) to add the bacon---& I wasn't sure whether the little dark pieces in the photo were bacon or the red pepper flakes. I would have assumed that you would add all of the bacon at the end but 2 of the 6 strips are shown to the side of the dish. I actually cut the bacon into pieces and then cooked, added all at end...and it was fine but I'm wondering if that's what you intended? <amy thanks and happy holidays!
  • I know I'm more than 1 year pass this post, but I've been wanting to try this for a while. Last night, for dinner I had butternut squash + rutabaga chicken waffles. It was amazing, I froze a waffle for my lunch today, it was still amazing. I cooked chicken cutlets with Sting N Linger Ghost pepper, I cut the round waffle in 1/4 put some BBQ sauce on the waffles and sandwich the chicken between 2 wedges. If I would've had more time, I would've sautéed some onions, mushrooms and red peppers to add in the sandwich. My version of the low-fat & low-carbs chicken waffle sandwich. I used coconut oil to cook chicken & produces.
