My Non-Toxic Kitchen + GreenPan Giveaway

Back in February, I started a series about my non-toxic transition. That is, my transition over to a non-toxic-as-possible lifestyle.

Now for this next phase of the series, I’m talking about another part of my everyday lifestyle: cooking!

My Non-Toxic Kitchen + GreenPan Giveaway

And let me emphasize the word ‘transition’ and ‘series’ here. I didn’t overnight switch over to a non-toxic lifestyle. It has been a transition. Just like the decision to start a healthy lifestyle, as long as you’re making small changes every day towards the goal, you’re making progress.

If you didn’t know already (and this has been a learning experience for me!), traditional non-stick pans (like the ones I was once using!) release toxins when overheated (which happens after only 3 minutes on high heat!) and also use the carcinogen PFOA or a potentially equally harmful alternative during the manufacturing process of the cookware’s coating. Other chemicals and unsafe materials that are commonly found in cookware include lead, cadmium and PFAS.

My Non-Toxic Kitchen + GreenPan Giveaway

Finding non-toxic cookware was the last part of my non-toxic transition and I was struggling with finding products that worked well, were non-stick, looked nice in my kitchen, and were reliably non-toxic.

Then, I found GreenPan! Since I primarily cook vegetables, I was looking for non-stick cookware. GreenPan answered all of my prayers and is now a “one stop shop” for all of my non-toxic cookware. They make ceramic cookware that’s not only durable, but beautiful – I use their Valencia Pro Collection.

I love finding brands I can trust, and GreenPan is one of them. Their ceramic non-stick coating is derived from natural materials and even their manufacturing process is more environmentally friendly. Most importantly, I feel safer when serving food to my friends and family, knowing they’re free of any potentially harmful chemicals.

My Non-Toxic Kitchen + GreenPan Giveaway

The most daunting part about switching over to a non-toxic lifestyle can be the cost. What I did (and recommend people to do), is as the products in your home “run out” (ie a bottle of shampoo) or are ready to be replaced (ie a pan with coating that’s chipping off), replace those items. Slowly but surely, you can transition to a non-toxic lifestyle. Don’t be discouraged if you can’t do it all at once.

And in that vain, GreenPan is offering 20% off on ALL products from the Valencia Pro collection only, valid until September 15th! Just use code INSPIRALIZED20 on checkout to redeem!

I recommend the Valencia Pro Collection, one of their newest collections, because I use it, love it, it’s suitable for all stovetops including induction, and find it to be a complete cookware set! I also recommend this wok, and this 12″ lidded saute pan.

And stay tuned – we’ll be doing a giveaway on August 21st on Instagram – so stay tuned!

  • So excited you have a coupon code for this! I just tried to order from the valencia pro collection, but unfortunately even though they let me enter the code, the discount didn't come off the subtotal. I emailed their customer service so hopefully they will have it fixed soon, but just wanted to comment here in case anyone was having the same issue!
    • I also had this issue - let me know if you get a reply!
      • I also had the same issue when attempting to use the coupon code.
      • Hi Hannah, I'm Charlotte from GreenPan. So sorry about the inconvenience you experienced with the promotion! We want to make it right. Please send an e-mail to this address: [email protected] We are happy to help you out! Best, Charlotte
    • I had the same problem this morning. I just went back to the website to check again, and I think I've lost my mind. I swear the set was listed for $299 this morning. It is now listed for $399. Am I crazy??
      • I just checked again and you are totally right! It was $299 this AM! Now it's $399, with a "sale price" of $319.99! And the same goes for everything else in that line, they all have a higher price and a "sale price," which is still higher than all the regular prices that were posted this AM! :(
      • If this is true, I'm beyond disappointed that a brand would do this to a blogger who is trying to promote their products. It would be enough to turn me off them for good.
      • Hi Julie, I'm Charlotte from GreenPan. So sorry about the inconvenience you experienced with the promotion! We want to make it right. Please send an e-mail to this address: [email protected] We are happy to help you out! Best, Charlotte
    • The GreenPan team has fixed this and made it 20% off (no code needed) right now on their site! Sorry for the trouble!
      • Is this only for US customers or are Greenspan honouring it in the UK too?
    • Hi Christina, I'm Charlotte from GreenPan. So sorry about the inconvenience you experienced with the promotion! We want to make it right. Please send an e-mail to this address: [email protected] We are happy to help you out! Best, Charlotte
  • Is there a trick with the green pan?! We used to have one and everything stuck to it so badly...
    • Hi Jennifer, This is Jessica from GreenPan. I'm sorry to read that you had a sticking issue. When using our products, we do recommend using lower heat settings and high smoke point oils (like canola oil, coconut oil, …). When you combine low smoke point oils (like EVOO) and high heat, the oil will burn and carbonize on the surface. This is where the sticking comes from. It can be easily removed with a melamine sponge and warm water. Do you still have the pan? We would like to resolve the issue for you. Please contact our customer service department at your earliest convenience, we can be reached at [email protected] or (914) 372-7777. Please tell them Jessica sent you :) Thank you!
  • Thanks for your tips. This looks like a great brand of cookware. I have also transitioned my life to a more non-toxic lifestyle but didn't think too much about pots and pans. After reading about it here & on their website, I am intrigued and didn't realize the impact. Did you have to make any changes in how you cook using these pans?
    • Hi Juliet, Jessica from GreenPan here. So glad to read that you are interested in GreenPan! When cooking with our products, we recommend making slight changes: using low-medium heat settings and high smoke point oils. The ceramic non-stick is designed to hold the heat really well so higher temperatures aren't needed for regular, everyday cooking. Also, please avoid spray oils (these can cause hot spots). If you should have any additional questions, please feel free to contact our customer service department. We can be reached at [email protected] or (914) 372-7777. Be sure to tell them Jessica sent you :)
  • I've been trying various less toxic non-stick options and have been wanting to try green pan. Thanks for the impetus and the discount. However... just like the ladies in other comments, the discount is coming off and then getting put back on... Here's what it looks like : Subtotal $104.99 20% off Valencia Pro -$21.00 Discount $21.00 Order total $104.99 I was trying to order the Valencia Pro frypan set. I will check back later to see if it has been fixed. Thanks!
    • The GreenPan team has fixed this and made it 20% off (no code needed) right now on their site! Sorry for the trouble!

  • Do you still use the Analon cookware you mentioned before? How does it compare to the green pan?
    • Nope, I've replaced the Anolon cookware with GreenPan! It's better!
  • You've talked about GreenPan before and I was intrigued. They sell two of their pans at Costco for a good deal. I purchased them and I have to say that I am really disappointed in how they perform. Stuff seems to stick to them easily and I have a hard time flipping things. Whenever I use coconut oil in them it produces a lot of smoke. Cleaning them hasn't been easy either. The ones that I got have little indentations in them on the bottom, but it looks like the ones you are promoting look smooth on the bottom and maybe those work better? Anyway, I'm going to return mine and stick to my cast iron skillets which work much better. I am bummed that they didn't work for me.
    • We bought the ones from Costco, and those little divots in the bottom are really tricky to clean! Coconut oil has a lower smoke point, and isn't really great for high heat cooking. Avocado oil has a higher smoke point! I've also been trying to cook at med-high or medium heat, since the Green Pan website does say not to cook at very high heats with their pans. Thankfully the Costco ones were cheap enough that I'm not too torn up if they don't last forever, but I do like them so far.
    • Hi Heather, This is Jessica from GreenPan. I'm sorry to read that you had issues with your pans. When using our products, we do recommend using lower heat settings and high smoke point oils, like canola. When you combine low smoke point oils (like EVOO) and high heat, the oil will burn and carbonize on the surface. This is where the sticking comes from. It can be easily removed with a melamine sponge and warm water. We see that you were going to return them and that's ok, but we would like to resolve the issue for you. Please contact our customer service department at your earliest convenience, we can be reached at [email protected] or (914) 372-7777. Please tell them Jessica sent you :) Thank you!
  • GreenPan has been around for at least 5 years. I bought a fry pan from Bed Bath & Beyond (or maybe it was Macy's?) because I was intrigued. At first, it worked just like any other fry pan, but as other posters have commented, I soon experienced "sticking" within 20 (?) uses. GreenPan doesn't have the longevity of traditional nonstick, and you will have to replace the pan sooner. I still like trusty Anolon and Calphalon better.
    • Hi Andrea, This is Jessica from GreenPan. Yes, we have actually been around for 10 years! I'm sorry to read that you had a sticking issue. We pride ourselves on constant innovation, offering our customers an extremely durable, non-stick surface that will last. When using our products, we do recommend using lower heat settings and high smoke point oils, like canola oil. When you combine low smoke point oils (like EVOO) and high heat, the oil will burn and carbonize on the surface. This is where the sticking comes from. Please contact our customer service department at your earliest convenience, we can be reached at [email protected] or (914) 372-7777. Please tell them Jessica sent you :) Thank you!
  • A number of years ago Greenpan was all the rage in Canada nd was sold through our shopping network. I bought a number of the pans and like some of the above commentors, found that after not-so-many uses, the pans starting sticking and were hard to clean. And they were expensive!! I ended up throwing them out after less than a year of use. I hope the pans have improved since my experience with them.

  • I too had multiple issues with the GreenPan - was great at the start but after a few months was sticking, hard to clean and all but useless. The company did not reply to my complaints. Im really surprised at your glowing review Ali, you can see all the other overwhelmingly bad reviews on Amazon and other sites. I now use a well seasoned good quality stainless steel pan that looks great and is now after long use virtually non stick and non toxic.
    • Hi Amanda, This is Jessica from GreenPan. I am sorry to read that you had an issue but no one was available to help you. We would like to resolve any outstanding issues for you as soon as possible. Please contact our customer service department at your earliest convenience, we can be reached at [email protected] or (914) 372-7777. Please tell them Jessica sent you :) Thank you!
  • Why not just use carbon steel fry pans and wok and cast iron pots, dutch ovens and grill pan... seasoning (I use flaxseed oil) and maintenance is easy... and non stick... Matfer Bourgeat and Lodge are my favorites... the durability, performance, look and feel are great..
  • My hubby & I have also experienced everything sticking to our green pans we purchased. Definitely NOT non-stick, after a few uses.

  • I've never tried GreenPan but I use Lodge cast iron pans for much of my cooking. They are reliably nonstick as long as they are cared for properly. I would love to hear your rationale for choosing GreenPan over other nonstick options.
  • This is a nice cooker set. but I don't need so many pots. I just want a wok and do you have one for sale alone?
    • Hi Kathleen, Jessica here from GreenPan. We don't currently have a wok on sale at the moment, but we have promo codes and deals running constantly! • I've been eyeing GreenPan for awhile as I stay away from Teflon when possible. This is super helpful! I'm curious what the difference is between the valencia pro and the venice pro, aside from the gray vs white color? Why might it make sense for me to pick one collection over the other?
  • Is there a brand you like to use for spatchula's and other utensils to cook with? Thank you!
    • You can find a list of Ali's preferred kitchen tools here: https://inspiralized.com/favorites/
  • Hi Ali! I've been following you for a while and love your recipes! I've been slowly transitioning to a more non-toxic lifestyle as well and asked for a set of GreenPan cookware for Christmas. My husband bought it for me and I was so excited to start using it. I've been using it now for less than a week, and I'm already having chips on the surface of the cookware. I read all of the instructions first and have only used high heat oils, cleaned with a soft sponge, warm water, and soap (no dishwasher or anything abrasive), only used silicone or wood spatulas, etc. I'm curious, have you not had any of these issues yourself? It looks like a lot of the other commenters have had similar issues and I'm really disappointed in the quality, especially given the cost. :(
