going from brunch to a night out (in the same day)

we've all been there - "oh hey, let's meet for brunch!" and that brunch turns into drinks, turns into another bar, maybe some afternoon shopping, and before you know it, it's 5pm and it's time to have cocktails and dinner. BUT, you're still in your casual brunch outfit. how to transition without running home and changing?

luckily big tote bags are in style. my advice? pack a tote bag with a sleek blazer and a new pair of heels and VOILA: a new look!

I’m all about repurposing items in my closet. I don’t have that expansive of a wardrobe (I’m slowly building it up, though!), so I love taking an item or two and wearing it in different ways to make totally new outfits, without breaking the bank.

two of my favorite wardrobe staples are:

  • high-rise black denim
  • spandex nude cami

both are staple items, in my opinion, and I’m showing you today how to make two separate looks using those staples and supplementing with layers, shoes, and accessories. this way, you can transition.

first stop: brunch

you can’t go wrong with a denim jacket – it makes even the dressiest of outfits casual. pair it with some sporty shades and you have a great late summer brunch look.

transitioning to dinner

open your tote bag and exchange that denim jacket for a sleek blazer, or one of my favorite fashion items, a sleeveless blazer.

I bought this white vest with a friend as a “statement piece.” it was a bit out of my budget at the time, but I’ve worn it so many times, I definitely got my money’s worth! and of course, we dress up the black denim with some cute leopard heels.

since I don’t live in New York City (right outside of it, in Jersey City!) I’ve learned a few tricks on how to plan for a day out.

consider the nude came and black denim your canvas and then paint it for whatever vibe you’re going for!

what are your tips for transitioning outfits?
