Here’s a short list of my most loved brands for newborn baby clothing. While there are many brands that I love for older babies and then toddlers, these are the places I specifically shop at for newborn basics.

My Favorite Brands for Newborn Baby Clothing

There are so many amazing brands out there for baby and toddler clothing, but I find that when I’m shopping for newborn baby clothing specifically (newborn sizing and that 0-3 sweet spot where they live in zip footies, onesies, and those basics), I stick to the same quality places when I want them in super soft, quality clothing for those first precious months at home.

One-Stop Shops/Easy Go-To Shops (Budget Friendly)

Old Navy– trendier colors and styles than GAP and slightly less expensive.

Gap – for all the basics in all the basic colors like navy, gray, stripes, etc. They still have cute patterns and graphic onesies, but they’re not as hip as other brands and are slightly cornier in their designs and graphics/slogans.

H&M – H&M tends to carry more neutral, hip colors and patterns, so if I want a cooler basic, I’ll shop here. I find that H&M runs slightly larger than Old Navy and Gap. I also love H&M’s matching sets and accessories (I love their colors of socks.)

Amazon – they have great organic brands and of course, you can’t beat the shipping! I’ll often shop here for something last minute or super specific. I love shopping Burt’s Bee’s, Zutano, Moon and Back, and Parade Organics on Amazon.

Spearmint Love – I always check here to shop smaller brands (like many of the ones below), because the owner curates the brands so well. If you like Instagram-worthy prints, outfits, decor, and other accessories, check them out.

Individual Brands and Small Businesses

To be honest, I find a lot of the Gap/Old Navy fabrics don’t last very long and if they are softer, they lose their softness after a few washes. Of course, in the newborn stage, babies grow out of things after a few washes, but I like to invest in quality pieces during this precious stage when my babies are so yummy and delicate.

You may look at some of these prices and be like, $36 for a romper?! Well, I find that these are the clothing items that I have kept for years for my future babies (I still have some of these brands leftover from the newborn stage with Luca that I used on Roma and now will use on the twins – they really last!) So, they’re definitely worth it, because you get more use out of them. I end up spending the $36 on a few Old Navy items anyway, when I could’ve just invested in one good piece.

Also, these are great brands if you’re buying gifts for friends or family who just had a baby! I love finding unique pieces at these brands or specific colors (I don’t find much variation in the ‘usual’ brands like Gap/Old Navy a lot.)

Kyte Baby – love their zip-up footies and neutral colors.
Colored Organics – you can’t go wrong here for the basics, in neutral colors.
Copper Pearl – for swaddle sets and cuter patterns and designs. I also love their newborn top knot hats!
Oliver & Rain – their newborn gowns are so soft.
Magnetic Me – I’ve used these outfits and newborn gowns with all of my children, because they’re so easy – it’s all magnetic! Instead of buttons or zippers, they use magnets. I don’t love their patterns, but you can’t beat the magnets.
Aden and Anais – more than just newborn clothes, but I do love their gowns, their fabrics are so soft.
L’ovedbaby – if you love putting your newborns in kimonos, they make great ones. Their fabrics are super soft, long-lasting, and their basics and natural colors are what I love.
Goumi – this brand has expanded so much over the years, but I love their rompers, footies, and their scratch mitts!
Hanna Andersson – they have it all and they specialize in cute matching family patterns. They always have great sales, so I’m often able to pick up a few extras here.
Lou Lou & Company – if you ever see babies with cute wooden buttons on the front of their rompers or gowns, it’s probably Lou Lou & Company – I love those accents! They are so soft and I don’t sleep on their pacifier clips.
Little Sleepies: my kids only sleep in these pajamas, and I bought a few of their zip footies for the twins/newborns! They’re so gentle and great for umbilical cord healing. Code INSPIRALIZED for 15% off!

Special mention: I just learned about this brand Bonsie Baby, which makes skin-to-skin so much easier! I bought a couple onesies, but I haven’t tried them so I can’t speak to them confidently yet! I’ll update this post once I have tried them.

What are some of your favorite brands for buying newborn clothes?

with love, Ali
